#5643, "A Tough Floatplane Destination..."

I'm busy building and testing Traffic for Richard Goldstein's Alaska Cinematic scenery. This traffic includes some Floatplane stuff and I thought you might like to follow a Monocoupe into ValleySPB...A very scenic trip over some magnificent glaciers.

The sun is glinting on the destination lake...It is that very small thin one below the floatplane.

Here is another view...It is directly below...

...and here it is to the right side of the picture.

We are effectively on a long downwind leg and our approach will be over to our left here in the opposite direction and crossing the end of the glacier where it drips into the lake under the left wingtip.

We will shortly fly up this lake to our left on a "Base Leg".
There are some very fine glacier views as ATC vector the floatplane around a circuit...This is an IFR flightplan.

I like this shot as you can see lumps of ice that have broken off the edge of the glacier and fallen into the lake...

...They are those white blobs floating on the water.

Here we are approaching the final turn towards our descent path.

We are lined up and descending on a very long final approach...The thin patch of water ahead is our destination.

Easier to see now...As we get lower you might be forgiven for forgetting that this is Photographic scenery...That is because it has autogen and it is the highest definition photo scenery that you have ever seen.

Short finals between the trees here, and you can glimpse the Cessna Amphibian, in which I am sitting.

Touchdown with suitable spray, courtesy of Holger Sandmann...

...His wake effects are well shown here.

Here is my view from the amphib.

And we'll leave it here as the Monocoupe taxies to its berth.

Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoyed this very fine scenery

Regards,
