#5623, "Military Traffic in FS2004..."

I took this sequence of shots while building some Traffic for a military Air Base in Alaska. There are many ABs in FS2004 and I get the feeling that they are under used.
Anyway, here is a full sequence as a section of Vipers returns from exercise to land at Elmendorf.

Here is the mission returning from exercise which involved visiting Wainwright AB and Eielson AB.

I built this special Traffic version of the F16 from Kirk Olsson's fine model...I needed to change or disable some textures and make one small change in the .air file.

The chaps are descending here down to pattern altitude which they seem to prefer as 2000 feet

There is Base, Elmendorf...I can just see a Globemaster at the Trooping Terminal at the left end of the airfield. We have the airbrakes out here as...

...we stream for landing. The gear is going down here. BTW, all this ordnance they are carrying is just a means of shuffling it between bases.

We are heading in towards the downwind leg now...

...and turning onto it here.

The chaps are all nicely in position and set to...

...peel off one by one...

...onto final approach.

Here we are almost lined up.

Nicely stabilised on finals with full flap and reducing speed to...

...cross the hedge at the correct figure.

Touching down smoothly with all this extra weight.

Taxying in you can see that there are very many F16s dispersed here...

...and here is a C17 Globemaster ready to shuffle some big load on to somewhere else.

Well, thank you for looking at this long post and I hope it may have inspired some people to make more use of the Air Bases that Microsoft have built into FS9.

All these shots were taken by using Microsoft's TrafficTools > Explorer to view the Traffic...I am not flying any of these aeroplanes; they are ALL AI Traffic

Very nice Peter!

Do the F-16s land in formation, or do they all go around and land seperately?

This sequence is exactly in order and if you follow it you will see that they stream back to line astern and turn onto the downwind leg. Then they peel off one by one onto finals and they judge it perfectly so that they touchdown just after the previous has turned off and none of them have to go-around...You do have to read the captions to understand the sequence.

Also, with reference to your post on another of my threads...This scenery is made from photos laid on mesh and it has buildings, AFCAD work and Autogen on top of it. The last few pictures reveal how this works

I have replaced the F16 with a simpler model that gives much higher frame rates. It is not as pretty but I now have eight missions of six aircraft each, for a total of 48 F16s max at any one time at Elmendorf...All with excellent frame rates, even though we are in Alaska Cinematic scenery.

It is quite exciting to sit here and watch...

...these Tbirds...

...come boring in...

...at high speed...

...to touch down with swirling smoke.

Hmmm chrome tyres

I can stack a lot of them here without killing my frame rate.

I need to find a way to get rid of those chromium tyres though
